Akori is a 19 year old boy from Turkana District, in northern Kenya. For many years now he has been financially dependent on his uncle Echuchuka for support. Echuchuka has been very helpful throughout his primary and secondary education, and now finds himself in the difficult situation of not being able to continue his nephew's funding for university. In Kenya, acceptance to Universities is extremely competitive due to limited spaces available. Akori has successfully completed his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education and has received a letter of invitation to further his studies at Moi University, in a Bachelor's of Education, starting in September 2007. He has already deferred one year due to lack of funds, and with your help, he can finally pursue his dreams of becoming a university chemistry professor and giving back to needy children like himself. The past year spent waiting for funds to be available, you would have found him helping his mother with his 4 other siblings, and playing on his local football team called "90 Boys Club." Already he has managed to raise some of the capital for his first year. Help see Akori through the next 4 years so he can become the breadwinner for his younger siblings!
